We are a group of enthusiastic and energetic Rotarians making a difference in our community. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at Forsyth Barr, 52 Robert Street, Whangarei. 5.30pm for 6pm start.
Visiting guests and potential new members are most welcome.

HistoryA small group of forward thinking people saw an opportunity to try something different after observing that the traditional style of Rotary meetings seemed to be deterring potential new and younger members, the main reasons being unaffordable membership fees (a direct result of a weekly meeting including a meal) and the weekly commitment to meetings which the time factor did not suit or attract people with young families.
Following some research and holding a series of public meetings within the groups' business network, they came up with the concept of fewer meetings, no meals and more focus on working on projects within the Community that appealed to potential members. As a result a new club was formed with 20 plus very active members, male and female, mixed age groups, enthusiastically working on Community projects and social projects and, having a lot of fun.
The Club was Chartered 25 February 2010 and on Saturday 13 March, 2010 at Whangarei, the Charter Certificate was presented to Charter President of the Rotary Club of Whangarei City PC Smith by District Governor Georges Giovannelli. Chartered Members are: PC (Peter) Smith, Kevan Summerlee, Ian Redfern, Sandra Leonard, Claire Furlong, Michael Scutt, Robyn Banks, Anita King Lassauw, Christine Redfern, Jillian Kake, John Peterson, Reo Smith, Terri Brady, Sandra McLean, Tina Hosznyac, Sue Irvine, Martyn Smith, Lynley Summerlee, Colin Probst, and Antony Elson-White.

Tree Planting
Rotary International's goal for 2017-2018 Rotary Year is to plant a tree for every Club member.
Our Club is supporting the Whitebait Connection who are planting native trees and shrubs along and around our Whangarei rivers and streams. Our Club is volunteering to help with the planting from July to September 2017.
