Rick rode into Whangarei City with the Shelterbox unit attached to his cycle which had travelled from Invercargill and now on its last leg, to cape Reinga. He was met by two Whangarei City Rotary Club members Kevan Summerlee and Ruth Jarman, south of the city who cycled with Rick to the Cameron St Mall, arriving around 10.30am.
Rick was able to report that cycling through many towns and communities, he created a lot of interest with organisations, schools and people pledging donations for the cause. He had a few "hairy" moments on State Highway 1 both in the South and North Island and as always his safety was well monitored by his Support team.
