There was never any doubt that our changeover would be a memorable one. The Oscar theme allowed us to conspire some awards for some people. I am sure that our members and numerous guests wondered who was going to be next to receive an award and, for what for.
Aaron Edwards, the youngest member of the Whangarei City Council gave a very interesting and inspirational view on Council matters and his recent work in Christchurch. It was heartening, to hear a voice with vision.
Brian Tuck also gave a brief account of his visions for the 9910 District as District Governor for 2011-2012 Rotary Year.
The DVD 12 Months” was screened to show all what as a club had kept us very busy.
The “Certificate of Appreciation” and the “Presidential Citation” presented to the club from the District were indeed a great surprise. Thanks to all club members for their efforts in gaining these special certificates.
Our second Rotary Year under the leadership of Kevan is already off to a flying star with an emphasis on the 5th Avenue of Service In Youth.
Special thanks must go to Craig and Sandra for the use of the Kensington Tavern premises, upstairs, and support for our Club. All the best for your new adventure.
I look forward to our Club’s continuing promotion and exercising of Rotary Ideals.
